Most people have heard of a scavenger hunt. But Ponderosa Back Country Horsemen put a new twist in it and do it on horseback.
The September 2016 event went so well we will do it again on Saturday, September 30, 2017.
In this scavenger hunt, the riders look for 40 items along the trail in the Riverside State Park Equestrian Area. When one is found they remove a number from a bag hanging next to the item, leaving the item in place. Since each item has a different point value the person coming in with the highest total point value wins.
The scavenger hunt is accompanied by a crazy hat contest, door prizes, raffles, music and chili feed.
The Riverside State Park Equestrian Area is an ideal location to hold equestrian events. There are great trails in the immediate area. In addition, there is the equestrian campground, arena, announcers stand, round pen and trail course.
Many local individual riders and equestrian groups enjoy using all of the facilities. Equestrians traveling through the area also can stop for a night of rest for their horses in comfortable surroundings.
More information about the 2017 scavenger hunt can be found at www.pbchw.com.
